http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429493/
Director: John Singleton
Rumored cast:
BA: Ice Cube
Mad: Woody Harrelson
Who's your dream cast?
Hannibal: Bruce Campbell / Christopher Lambert / Bruce Willis / Gene Hackman / Robert Duvale
Face: Ryan Reynolds / Dane Cook or Marky Mark / Josh Holloway for more serious approach.
B.A.: Terry Crews / Michael Clarke Duncan / Rock
Mad: Sean William Scott / Johnny Knocksville
Amy Amanda Allen: Any hot chick.
Deckar: Tommy Lee Jones / Travolta / Ray Liota
Van should not be changed.... Update the model if you have to but keep it as similar as possible. |

You know, Ice Cube seems like pretty good casting for BA. Sure he doesn't possess the sheer physical size that Mr. T had, but his personality would fit the role perfectly.
Good call on Bruce Campbell as Hannibal. He could give that role just the perfect touch. I'd also put a vote in for George Clooney, but then this starts to feel a bit too much like a Three Kings reunion.
I think Woody Harrelson is all kinds of wrong for the Murdock part. I'd rather see someone like Sam Rockwell in there.
For Face, what about Taye Digs? There's nothing that says Face needs to be a white guy.
Deckar? Sam Elliot. |

Damn, that's good casting too. you guys are on fire today.
Taye Diggs would be so great as that kind of character. Good call, man. |

Taye Digs as Face is the kind of casting choice that got Will Smith into Wild Wild West and Men in Black. Now, I'm not sure if I'm trying to say that it's a good choice or a bad one - I guess it depends on whether or not you enjoyed those movies or not. Personally, I say leave the characters in their own ethnicity...but then again, I'm of the mind frame of "why even make an A-Team movie at all?" I mean, the series was enjoyable enough....
Also, good call on Sam Elliot as Deckar. _________________ www.trevoramueller.com

Sam Rockwell would make a far better villain than hero. He has far more range than he lets on. Piccadilly Jim show cased his talents far better than HHGTG.
I could see him playing a younger Hannibal...
Taye Diggs should do more movies rather than wimpy TV shows. It’s been a long time since Equilibrium. |

My point is that race shouldn't be a determining factor when picking the actors for these roles. They're former special forces soldiers that participated in Desert Storm. So long as they get the personalities right, I don't really need for these characters to match up in skin tone to their progenitors.
And from the things in which seen Taye perform (and here I'm thinking of Private Practice and Daybreak), I think he's a natural at pulling off the smooth, ladies-man role that Dirk Benedict so ably perfected in the original show, while at the same time remaining believable as a special forces soldier and general bad ass.
My thinking has nothing to do with Box Office projections or for providing a vehicle for young, bankable stars. I'm simply offering up an actor who I think would do a great job in the role.
As to Sam Rockwell, he is an exceptional actor. And I think that Murdoch is possibly the most difficult role to do right. Sam Rockwell has demonstrated the ability to really play a good kind of crazy. And here, the roles that spring to mind are more Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Galaxy Qwest. |

| i didn't have a problem with will smith in either role, or as robert neville, for that matter. if there are contentions to those movies, i don't think they revolve around casting choices. |

Well, from a logical standpoint, the idea of a black man as a US Secret Service agent in 1869 isn't exactly historically accurate. Then again, the movie takes place in an imaginary world where giant steam driven spiders can wreak havoc on the countryside, so historical accuracy probably wasn't a major sticking point for the film's producers.
I'd say that the actors did an adequate job with the material they were given, but it's hard to turn crap into enjoyable cinema. |

i love the giant spider anecdote on the first "an evening with kevin smith" dvd.
also, "US Secret Service agent in 1869" reminds me... "screw-on head, calling screw-on head!"

Joblo's pointing at (via other sites) Bruce Willis and Tyrese Gibsons as the front runners for Hannibal and B.A.

| I'm sure I'd get on board with it after seeing a trailer or two, but I'm just not feeling these choices. They seem to lack a bit of the whimsy, tongue-in-cheek nature that the original show had. I don't know... I guess we'll see how this plays out. |

| I think Tyrese is fine in terms of action, I just worry he can't balance the humor. Mr. T brought a lot of style to that role beyond the gold and feathers. |

| This is what I'm saying. Willis and Tyrese both say "action" to me. And I was hoping for something that was a little more lighthearted. |
