What I Hate About Ads

Postby The REAL Brian » Sat Aug 21, 2010 7:17 am

When you're watching a video through a program like Blip, and the ad they show before hand MAKES YOU choose what version of the ad you "want" to see. Do ad companies forget that what they're creating is something people at best tolerate? And if you don't make a selection, the ad waits a minute or more before it just automatically plays one of the versions. How can they not realize how annoying this is, essentially associating their product with being a nuisance?

What i hate is the damn previews on DVDs that the skip button ">] " cannot be used to skip through. I have a DVD player in my kids room that I lost the remote to and everytime I put in a Disney dvd it gives you the option at the begining to either do Fast play or sit through the previews.. Well the preview option is highlighted so I am stuck with 20 minutes of Disney previews.... Which really sucked when my kids did not know how to operate the dvd player yet...

Previews on DVD always used to feel like a kick in the 'nads, esp. back when you just couldn't skip them. Infact, that goes double for the 'Don't Piracy' ads. Last few times I've been to the cinema there have been 'Thanks for paying to see this' type ads, which were a lot nicer.

Somehow there are enough adblockers on my Firefox that I never get pre-video ads on Blip or YouTube or anything... Call me lucky, I suppose.

With the DVD ones, I either fast forward, hit skip, or press menu. One of those always works. :D

I hate the anti-piracy things so much that I started pirating things, so I wouldn't have to upt up with it.

I've made a habit of putting the movie in before we're ready to start watching. I use the time I'd waste watching the stupid anti-piracy ads to make myself a snack and turn off the lights.

The anti-piracy ads here in Australia quantify the time to make a coffee, tuck the kids into bed, run a marathon, take over parliament and complete reading the full edition of "War and Peace" before you'd get to the actual film.

so i misread the title as "What I Hate About Aids", and clicked the link in bewilderment thinking "There's something not to hate about aids?"
We are the underrated, all forgotten, kids who made it. Speak up now, lose or get, left behind.

What's considered immoral though? Two guys living together? 2 girls? Because a big book that has been rewritten many times by man says it is?

I do not base my morals off what a book tells me.

... that's jumping to a lot of conclusions. Just because someone has aids doesn't mean they're homosexual. and vice versa.
