http://keyguardactive.com/ I'm on a five strip a week update schedule and maybe once every two weeks the joke is funny. My names WT, and I've done some Turtle Vs. Bunny Pinups, marking myself WAY in the Pro-Bunny camp. This is my first post, but in all likelihood not my last. So...Hi!
GC was small-time, and not updated regularly enough, but yes, it provided some interesting experiences (like suggestions that my hands should be removed from my person so as to prevent me from writing such offending articles anymore). And while I didn't seek out comics to bash, I just figured my praise might mean more when there was also the possibility of a comic receiving the rough side of my tongue.
Couldn't agree more about the need to truncate the text blocks in the early strips, and you're definitely not the first one to make mention of it. The first four comics were just an introduction, necessary to set up backstory that I figured might be better, instead of the first time where we tossed readers in the deep end and I feel often time I expected them to know things I had never mentioned to anyone but myself. Strips #5 and #6 are more representative of the usual NPT style. If you think those are too wordy, though...well, yeah, could still be. But I'm not sure how much better I can do then that, I'm nothing if not verbose.
Also, hopefully by the time you read this there'll be a second comic on the site, Hellidays, still written by me but drawn by a different artist. Anyone who wishes to check that out, I'll put a direct link to it in this post when it goes up, which will hopefully be tomorrow. Right now the first strip can be seen as a TWC vote incentive, too.

Haha, Going Critical sounds like quite the experience. Generally speaking, I try not to bother with negative reviews--This Week in Webcomics is simply about reading good comics and sharing good comics with other people. And making good comics about good comics, apparently. I had a few positive words for Digital Pimp's own
Matriculated
in the most recent post, but my deliberately obnoxious co-host had to spoil it with his snark.
I gave Nuclear Powered Toaster a quick look, and it seems it's off to a good start. The story is fairly engaging so far, and your artist is good at drawing comic spaceships. I think it'd benefit from slightly more succinct writing and a more unified, less saturated color palette, but overall, not a bad beginning at all. Good luck to you guys with your comic!

Ah, an entrant into the world of critiquing? Tearing down what others create? Yeah, it's a good time. I only got a few reviews done back when I had a similar thing (Going Critical, which was how I first came here I think, after having reviewed Free Lunch), as I got sidetracked by doing my own comic, but it was good times. In that all positive reviews were typically ignored, and negative ones brought down ire from the comic's supporters, or in several cases, the creator themselves (the most notable instance of that being The Noob; that Gianna chick who does it came by the forums after I gave her a 5). My artist and I would appreciate it if you wanted to take a look at NPT at some point, although admittedly there's not really enough to review there yet (aside from the old run, which I feel somewhat conflicted about these days).

It's not exactly a comic, but my webcomics-review blog
This Week in Webcomics
occasionally updates in the form of a comic, in which my co-host and I discuss notable comics from the past week in talk-show format.
Here are some links to past comic-form updates:
http://webcomicweek.blogspot.com/2009/05/58-this-week-in-webcomicsin-comic-form.html
http://webcomicweek.blogspot.com/2009/07/74-week-in-review-once-again-in-comic.html
http://webcomicweek.blogspot.com/2009/07/724-week-in-review-in-comic-form-3.html
Also, if you're a webcomic creator, I'm always up for hearing about new comics, and I may even give your comic a review or mention on the blog--if I can find the time. Feel free to contact me and let me know about your comic.

Serious? Perish the thought! I admit it will be a bit less slapstick than the previous iteration (which often swam too deep in that pool and ended up drowning in the mire of overindulgence and repetition), but it will remain, as ever, a light-hearted look at that rather dark future. It just isn't overly humorous during this backstory bit, which ends with #4. As for whether it is after that...all I can say is I tried.

I likethe art style. Reminds me of Berkley Breathed. I'm not usually into serious ones, and it kind of gives me that vibe, but otherwise, it's aight.

Many thanks, I did the close url twice, which cocked it up. Fixed now. And yeah, I had wanted to change the font on the first one as well, but forgot about it until a few hours before the day designated as the new beginning, so I said to hell with it and kept going. The first one already looked different anyhow, it was done a couple months before the others. Glad to hear you liked it, if you want to see more, there's the 44 strips of the original run in the Burnt Toast section, as well as various guest comics and whatnot in Extras. Got a second comic on the way, Hellidays, but for now you can only see it by clicking the TWC voting link. My site guy's going to make a new section for it when he gets a chance and the artist (a different one, the NPT guy is a bit too busy for two comics) designs a logo (and finishes the second strip).

I liked the first 3 strips. I stick with this for awhile and see where it takes me. And thank god you changed the font from the first strip. That was way to hard to read.
Your link is broken, btw. You tagged on a couple of extra characters at the end.

Post subject: No one ever uses these things anymore, it seems. How sad.
After a couple years in dry dock,
Nuclear Powered Toaster
is once again back in business and updating the hell out of Mondays. It's a reboot, but the same basic description applies: sci-fi comedy, post-post-post apocalyptic, story-based, all that good stuff. Also a new comic called Hellidays that is currently just a Top Web Comics vote incentive, but will likely get its own section of the site shortly.

Post subject: Comic
I had a comic in High school, I realize now that there was the occasionally taboo comic but most of it was pretty harmless. I think we stepped over the line for the world trade center comic, but hey, I was 16 and pretty stupid. I’ll post the link, but be forewarned, Juvenile content awaits. That aside, I was actually really hoping to start a new comic, I just well, I suck at HTML, like really suck, never in my life have I ever even one time made a website. Also, I don’t really think I have the time… Maybe it’s just intimidating or something. Anyways, yeah

Also, this is one I did separately, I have a huge storyline for this one as well, and I just basically posted the images and nothing else. My style was getting pretty good by this point.
http://notwithoutmercy.comicgenesis.com/
and I have new comic ideas that I wouldn’t mind throwing somewhere in the future.

I've got a comic. It's been running for a couple weeks now, but I hope to keep it going for a while cause I'm having a good time with it. (at least another month since that's what I have for a buffer)
Made Up
Quick Synopsis: Walter, once a creative and imaginative child has been broken by the system of school and work and now is a dull office drone. Since moving away from his friends and family, has made no new friends and has lost touch with his old ones. One night his solitary existence is broken up by the return of his childhood imaginary friend, Mr. Dusty.
Will Dusty teach him to laugh again? To live? To LOVE?
Or maybe he's just an unwanted house guest.
It updates MWF. Feel free to hit me up with any comments, questions or feedback.
Thanks,
Joe
